Exciting, Elegant, Groovy Sol Music in 2023

Del Sol plays beautiful music beautifully. Sterling musicianship, exciting presentation, strong programming and great grooves.
Seasoned professionals, they create a fresh take on bossas, sambas and latin jazz - and they are funky.

Enjoyed your music tonight at Oakmont. ... you blew us away.
Barbara Goodman, Oakmont

We had such a wonderful time & sooooo enjoyed hearing you and the band. My favorite "show time tune" is the one you sang from West Side Story :-) . I gives me chills every time I hear it. Thank you for that too! Jeanette A., Fenix

.. Wonderful engaging mix of songs ... infused all your new+old fans with Holiday Spirit. The Boys in the Band shone too-tight, tight+groovy riffs. Brava Brava Brava ... it was a delight + great pleasure to hear you knock it out @the fenix.
Donna Wagner, Fenix

Thank you for a musically memorable evening. We all were just enthralled. How wonderful to hear you in a setting worthy of your talent.
Bettina Devin, Fenix

All of you absolutely lit up the hall this morning. Everyone loved it!
Will Johnson, Sonoma State University

Del Sol was fantastic. People are still talking about your concert.
Donna Campbell, Santa Rosa Symphony

Absolutely lovely - how very tasty!!!! Great arrangements of the standards.
Chris Armstrong & Lou Dangles

It wasn't just that your concert was enjoyable and interesting, which it was. For some of us (me included) it was the finest presentation of jazz we'd witnessed, maybe ever.
Bob Chapman, 50th Anniversary Celebration Committee

Congratulations on a really superb jazz concert. Ron thought it was on a par with the best jazz at Kennedy Center or Green Music Center. A real coup for Oakmont. Thank you.
Bev Leve

Just want to let you know how much I enjoyed your band Saturday night at Berger. Each one of the four of you were refreshingly professional, polished, and truly wonderful musicians.
Karen L. Van Sant, former LA studio musician

It was Such Great Fun last night. You & your lads were exciting to listen to+watch. You "worked" those sets & the mix of tunes + grooves was exceptional...I was dancing in my seat! You're an incredible talent-so comfortable to watch+compelling to listen to...the band ain't lacking in talent either. Donna Wags

The History of Del Sol

by Charity Goodin
with additional material by Doug Morton

Brad McKeague and Charity Goodin met on a gig in 1992-ish when Brad subbed for our regular drummer. He was a brash, swashbuckling young man, full of himself. Charity, a demur and respected lady of indeterminate years. While on break we discovered that we both were massage therapists as well as musicians. Brad and I were always in other groups and would check in with each other about various gigs, what kind of music we were doing, what we were more interested in doing.

One day, we were talking about music, and Brad said he wanted to start a project with me. Gathering music that we loved from musicians we admired, and play it in our own style. The idea ignited within each of us a desire to play intelligent, interesting music. We were interested in feeding our own creative juices and taking the fusion jazz, Latin tinged rhythm path. Exploring and expanding. Using the original music as a chalice to feel free enough to push the boundaries in. Making each piece challenging, exciting and FUN.

Brad knew Rob Fordyce, bassist, from their other band, "The Ring" and asked him to join us. Amazing! Rob's natural talent and interest in being a front man instrumental artist were just what we were looking for. His original and dynamic approach to each piece brings new dimensions to the songs. His delight in playing the bass as a "lead" instrument, ignites the creativity in all of us to stretch our abilities as well. Rob has been with the band since its inception and has progressed exponentially over the years we've been together.

Both Rob and Brad knew Doug Morton and approached him to join us in 2012. The keyboards added the rich texture we were looking for in the sound of the band. Doug's passion for each piece of music has helped push all of us as musicians. The addition of keyboards allowed us to perform the pieces written for piano and Doug makes them soar. We’ve recently started working with the great French guitarist, Jean-Michel Huré, who adds another brilliant dimension to our music. We continue to develop our original music and our original approach to existing music.

In May of 2012, Del Sol went into MarinWest Studios and recording enough tracks for 2 CDs in about a day-and-a-half. A year later, the production was finally complete thanks to the great and generous Jimmy Hobson. We have released both CDs and they are available on CD Baby.

Del Sol has had the opportunities to play concerts and concert series, celebrations, dance parties and lots of local venues, including the Seahorse and the No Name Bar in Sausalito, the Panama Hotel and recently the wonderful Fenix club in San Rafael. We look forward to many more.
